La Paz to Arica by bus: everything you need to know

Travel by bus from La Paz to Arica is the fastest and only option to do this route. There are no direct flights between these two cities.

Arica to La Paz by bus

La Paz is the administrative capital of Bolivia with many cultural attractions. Travelers going from Arica to Lake Titicaca or to Uyuni may stop for a few days in La Paz to rest and acclimatize to the altitude (3,600 meters above sea level). The journey takes 9 hours through the Panamericana highway, passing little towns like Valle de Luta, Pukara de Copaquilla. The border crossing takes place at Chungurá-Tambo Quemado.
